Yamamoto Noh Theater

The Yamamoto Noh Theater is located near Osaka Castle in the heart of Osaka City. Founded in 1927 by Hiroyuki Yamamoto, it is the oldest existing Noh theater in Osaka, with a history of nearly 100 years. It was once destroyed during World War II, but was rebuilt in 1950. As a three-story wooden building in the city and a valuable traditional Noh stage, it was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2006.

Yamamoto Noh Theater offers a special "Experience Program," where participants have the opportunity to interact with and try on Noh masks, costumes, and musical instruments. Designed to promote the appeal of the traditional Japanese performing art of Noh and make it even more accessible and enjoyable, the program aims to spark interest and deepen understanding through a hands-on experience and a lecture from a Noh performer. The program also features an actual Noh performance, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the world of Noh and truly appreciate its profound depth.
