National Bunraku Theatre

The National Bunraku Theatre opened in March 1984. It presents various traditional Japanese performing arts throughout the year, including Bunraku puppet theater, dance, traditional Japanese music, and other forms of entertainment. The theater usually features Bunraku during January, April, August, and November, as well as appreciation classes complete with commentaries and masterpieces in June.

Bunraku performances organized by the National Bunraku Theatre come with an optional paid English audio guide service, enhancing the theatre's foreign language support. The theatre also has English-speaking staff strategically placed at information desks and ticket counters to assist international visitors.

Adding to the allure, the theater also offers occasional guided tours, including a backstage experience, granting visitors a unique glimpse into the captivating world of traditional Japanese performing arts.
