Shizuoka Performing Arts Park/Shizuoka Arts Theatre

The Shizuoka Performing Arts Park lies on the hills of Nihondaira, overlooking Mount Fuji. It has an outdoor theater designed by the architect Arata Isozaki, including rehearsal studios for performing arts scattered around the area.

Meanwhile, the Shizuoka Arts Theatre is a specialized facility for the performing arts located at the tip of GRANSHIP (Shizuoka Convention & Arts Center). (Designed by Arata Isozaki)

These two theater facilities are the base of operations for the Shizuoka Performing Arts Center (SPAC), with Satoshi Miyagi serving as its general artistic director. They also host the annual World Theatre Festival Shizuoka.

Shizuoka Performing Arts Park was developed with the concept of "coexistence and harmony with nature." The park has three theatres: the outdoor theatre "Udo", the indoor theatre "Daendo", and the rehearsal building, Box Theatre. In April 2023, the park's rest area and cafe, Kachi Kachi Yama, was renovated as the Mini Museum of the World Theatre 'Theatron'. It introduces the rich history of theatres from around the world, spanning ancient times to the present day.
Aside from theatrical performances, the park also occasionally hosts tour events.

Shizuoka Arts Theatre is a specialized facility for the performing arts located at the tip of GRANSHIP (Shizuoka Convention & Arts Center). Its unique theater, consisting a wide, proscenium-free stage and horseshoe-shaped seating, creates an ideal environgment where performers and the audience can connect. Its design ensures that the stage's intensity is felt up close, regardless of seating position.

The World Theatre Festival Shizuoka is an annual theatre festival from April to May. It brings outstanding performing arts from around the world to Shizuoka, featuring performances within City and at the two theatres.
The World Theatre Festival Shizuoka transcends regional and national boundaries, fostering direct interaction among artists, audiences, and locals alike.
Various events are also held in Shizuoka City during the theatre festival.
