Trailblazers – Japan’s Next Innovators - Program Announcement (Sanriku Fukko National Park, Folk Performing Arts Tradition)

"Trailblazers" is a documentary series that seeks out and introduces Japan’s next trailblazers (innovators) in various fields like art, technology, fashion, and food culture. It broadcasts monthly on the BS Fuji channel in Japan and on NHK WORLD-JAPAN/jibtv to 160 countries worldwide.

This month features a collaboration between the Sanriku International Art Festival, sponsored by the Japan Cultural Expo Project, and the “National Parks of Japan: Stories to Experience” exhibition. The episode highlights the Sanriku Fukko National Park, one of the 34 National Parks in Japan, and talks about the innovators who breathe new life into the performing arts of the region, wherein each village on the rias coast has passed down its unique performing arts that express gratitude and awe to nature.
