Kumiodori Dance Founder Tamagusuku Chokun and Other Ryukyu Kingdom Heroes
This exhibition introduces Ryukyu Kingdom-era heroes centering on Tamagusuku Chokun (1684- 1734), founder of Kumiodori, the traditional narrative performing art of Okinawa. Developed under the influence of Kabuki and other theatrical arts of mainland Japan, Kumiodori celebrates the 300th year since its first staging.
