Noh is a classical theater art that represents Japanese culture. Noh masks, representing a rich variety of characters, is an important component forming the art of Noh together with Noh songs. In this exhibition a collection of 67 Noh masks formerly owned by the Mizoguchi family which used to rule the Shibata domain of Echigo province will be shown for the first time. The collection remains miraculously vomplete with all the accompanying items including bags for the precious masks and the cabinet to store them.
