Sanriku International Arts Festival 「TRAVERSE」
The Sanriku International Arts Festival 2021 is an international arts festival featuring more than 120 local folk performing arts groups and contemporary artists in 14 cities, towns and villages along the 250 km Sanriku coastline damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. This year's festival will focus on major events of folk performing arts held in Sanriku area, as well as an art project involving the Sanriku Railway, a symbol of the recovery. There will be an art wrapping project of train cars by artists and children, and three photographers will shoot photos in Sanriku and exhibit them in the cars. In addition, folk performing arts demonstrations and symposiums will be held at the three theaters.
