The 1,200th Memorial Anniversary of Saicho: Saicho and Mt. Hiei

Enryaku-ji Temple, which was built in 794 by Saicho and is called the "mother mountain of Japanese Buddhism" by producing each soshi, will specially open to the public the "Kaidan-in Temple" (nationally designated important cultural property) and "Hokke souji-in todo Temple", which were the most clear wishes. In addition, this year, 450 years after Oda Nobunaga's burning of Mt. Hiei, this year is a project to disseminate both domestically and internationally how Enryakuji nurtured and conveyed Japanese culture from the war to reconstruction, through cultural property exhibitions and the voices of Oda and Akechi family descendants.
