The Beauty of the Ryukyu Dynasty: Passing Down and Spreading Traditional Okinawan Performing Arts
Influenced by various cultures since the Ryukyu Kingdom era, Kumiodori and the other traditional Okinawan performing arts have developed a unique identity, with its own aesthetics and sensitivity. Created with the aim of promoting the performing arts of Okinawa, this project features performances of Kumiodori and Ryukyuan Dance, along with lectures on the history and environment of Shuri Castle, where these arts flourished. A display of the unique Ryukyuan "karakuri fireworks," presented in the gardens of Shuri Castle during the Ryukyu Kingdom era and reproduced for the occasion, will also be held. The project also includes the creation of a multilingual promotional video to showcase the beauty of Okinawan traditional performing arts, which will be released on social media.
