Special Exhibition - National Treasure: Frolicking Animals
Even if you don't recognize its name, you have probably come across one of the scenes depicted in it. One of the greatest and most famous masterpieces in the history of Japanese art, the National Treasure Choju-Giga (Frolicking Animals) is a picture scroll that depicts anthropomorphized animals and human activities using only ink lines. This exhibition is dedicated to this fascinating artwork, and displays for the first time all the scenes from the four volumes of the Choju-Giga.
