Discover the Traditional Performing Arts of Japan:Kabuki, Noh, Kyogen, Bunraku, Dance, Yose, and Gagaku
Through the traditional performing arts of our country, we would like to highlight the spirit of Japanese hospitality and showcase to visitors from all over the world the variety of Japanese performing arts, such as kabuki, bunraku, rakugo, and dance. Traditional Japanese arts have a common thread of being rooted in nature, and they provide an opportunity for the audience to feel, directly or indirectly, the deep appreciation that the Japanese people have always had for their environment. Live performances for foreign audiences have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, we have made content with English subtitles available to introduce Kabuki to the uninitiated. We offer programs on the theme of traditional Japanese performing arts, such as kyogen comedy theater for the hearing impaired using the subtleties of sign language, and the Japan Cultural Expo Yose 2020, an event where major artists in rakugo, kamikiri, and dance are invited to perform.
