A cross dome has been erected in a public square to symbolize the melding of people, things, and culture that have shaped Yokohama into what it is today. Inside the dome, visitors can experience dynamic illuminations created by projection lighting. Six times a day, a special performance of light and sound is held between the square and 20 surrounding facilities, featuring colors based on keywords that represent Yokohama culture’s unique characteristics since the opening of the port. Illuminated objects, which make perfect photo spots, will also be installed at 10 locations in the coastal area of central Yokohama, to facilitate movement around the city.
