The touring Fukushima Expo Fukuhaku 2020 in Aizu will be held to help accelerate the restoration of Fukushima in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 and dispel the prefecture's negative reputation caused by the nuclear disaster. The event also aims at promoting traditional culture and developing local industries. Original projects will be carried out by the region’s youth by combining Fukushima’s unique traditional culture, which has been passed down for generations, with modern designs and new ideas. In order to attract domestic and international visitors to the region from 2021 onward, Fukushima Expo “FUKUHAKU” 2020 will be widely publicized both within and outside Japan.
