Ai: Forever with Me is a story featuring Seki Kansai, a doctor of western medicine, and his wife Ai. He was born in a farming village of Kazusa Province (modern Chiba Prefecture) and moved to Chōshi as a town doctor after studying in Sakura Juntendō. He is known for having saved the people of Chōshi from a cholera epidemic. In his career he crisscrossed the country, first as a student in Nagasaki, and then as a daimyō’s private doctor in Tokushima, and as a pioneer in Hokkaidō. Ishikawa Sayuri’s songs, together with this play, will vividly bring to life the grand drama of this famous doctor and his family.
