Singing in the Rain: Rainy Scene in Waka Poem (“Ame ni utaeba: Soramoyo no koten bungaku”)

Since ancient times Japanese were very sensitive to fluctuations in the weather, so much so that they often put their thoughts and feelings on the subject into waka poetry and monogatari tales. This exhibition introduces rain-related works of classical literature created from the Nara to Edo periods (the eighth to mid-nineteenth centuries).
