National Treasure: Frolicking Animals

This exhibition will see the four scrolls of the Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga, or Frolicking Animals displayed in their entirety under one roof for the first time. One of the preeminent works of Japanese art history, this 12th century ink brush painting portrays anthropomorphic animals and human counterparts engaged in a variety of period activities.
