Traditional Festivals and Events in Nara : Seeing Through Paintings
Nara where there used to be three national capitals 1300 years ago.The festivals and events of this historical place that have been handed down through the generations and also newly created to be repeated every year are very diverse.The work of Tadashi KAWASE, a painter who depicts those festivals and events over the years, won the Prime Minister’s Award at TABUROU Art Exhibition in Japan, and more works have been awarded several other prizes. Kawase had his solo exhibition in Paris in 2018, where his works were highly evaluated internationally.In this exhibition, about 30 works have been selected and displayed with the commentaries on the history and the charms of the festivals.The collection includes large works that measure 63×51 in. The overwhelming and vigorous oil paintings are definitely must-sees.
