Miyazaki Kagura National Bunraku Theatre Performance
Miyazaki Prefecture has a history of performing traditional ritual Shinto dances, known as "kagura". The dances are a way for the villagers to thank the Gods for a bountiful harvest, and to pray that the sun and warmth will return in the spring. In Osaka, we will perform a kagura piece from Shiiba. The repertoire of the original Shiiba Kagura consists of 33 dances, and is usually performed over a whole night, but in this performance, we will show just one typical dance. How about watching a traditional performing art that has been passed down from ancient times?
