The Buddhist Sculptures of Daiho’onji Temple Kyoto: Masterpieces by Kaikei and Jokei
Daiho’onji Temple, commonly known as Senbon Shakado (“one-thousand Shakyamuni hall”), is famous as a repository of Kamakura-period (1185–1333) sculptures. This exhibition in commemoration of the 800th anniversary in 2020 of the temple’s founding, showcases superb works in the temple’s collection by Unkei, Jokei, and other masters of the Keiha school of Buddhist sculptors.
