Traditional Japanese Music PerformanceThe Soundscapes of Ukiyo-e-Retracing the Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō by Utagawa Hiroshige-
Early modern pictorial art and traditional performing arts had influenced each other while developing, from the very beginning. This program will showcase a live performance of traditional music, with pieces evoking the landscapes of the locations from The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido, a series of ukiyo-e woodcut prints created by Utagawa Hiroshige. On September 15th, a concert (with commentary) will be held at the Edo Tokyo Museum.
