Tokyo Shishimai Collection 2020 Pre-event: “Lion Dance” Revival
Lion dances (shishimai) have long been a part of folk Performing Artsto pray for good harvest, to ward off calamity, and as memorial services for the dead. Amid the revival activities following the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011, these dances offered encouragement to local residents.
