Craftwork 2020:Japanese Crafts and Nature Exhibition
Japanese crafts use traditional materials and techniques, and are created with an artisan's artistic sense. As such, Japanese crafts have a close relationship with nature. Imbued with a unique view of nature reflecting the Japanese mindset, Japanese craft works have been created and developed to express the beauty in objects used in daily life. This exhibition introduces various craft works by inviting contemporary artists from all generations who make good use of traditional materials and appropriate techniques, and create their works based on their own views of nature and the beauty of it. The exhibition also offers multilingual support: Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean. The related program “Crafts and Food” has been created as an interactive event where you can enjoy a hands-on experience with crafts that have functional beauty, and learn the impact of food culture. The main purpose of the program is to broaden the activity areas of artisans. We hope this exhibition serves as a good opportunity to introduce to people all over the world to the view of nature, value of diversity, and beauty unique to Japanese crafts.
