Passing on Cultural Heritage: Buddhist Murals and Sculptures of Horyuji
This exhibition focuses on the Kondo, or main hall, of Horyuji Temple, Japan's first World Heritage site. It features high-quality reproductions of the Kondo's world-famous ancient Buddhist mural, sadly destroyed in a fire 1949, along with other rare Buddhist sculptures housed in the main hall. Visitors can also see how the Preservation and Utilization Committee of Horyuji Temple's Main Hall Murals, established in 2015, uses modern technology and ideas such as high-definition imaging, virtual reality, and "cloned cultural properties" to keep cultural artifacts alive.
