Special Exhibition Gion Festival in Kyoto
Through historical materials and decorative tapestries and items on the floats, the exhibition presents the role of the Gion Festival, which began as a way to appease the gods during an epidemic in the ninth century, in building ties between the people who take part in the festival and those who watch it.
