Yoichi Ochiai & Japan Philharmonic Orchestra Project VOL.7
"RECURSIVE ORCHESTRA"
The seventh installment of the collaborative project between media artist Yoichi Ochiai and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra is set to take place, centered around the theme of "Reconstructing the Orchestra through Technology." This year's performance is titled "RECURSIVE ORCHESTRA". Alongside the main performance at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, chamber music arrangements will also be held in Takayama, Hirakata, and Okinawa (including Shurijo Castle). Through the universally recognized medium of the orchestra, the project aims to explore and globally share the richness of Japanese culture, including its traditional music.
We're thrilled to present the seventh installment of our "Technology x Orchestra" series, a project that has been running since 2018. This year's event is set at the prestigious Tokyo Opera City. We are kicking off a fresh collaboration with the globally acclaimed composer Dai Fujikura to embark on a new series, "shouzen keigo keiou kairai (承前啓後継往開来)", exploring Japanese culture through orchestral music. Our first installment this year will spotlight a new piece inspired by the classical music of the Ryukyu Islands.
