Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2023 in ACHI
"SSFF & ASIA 2023 in ACHI" will be held in Achi Village, Nagano Prefecture, which is recognized by the Ministry of the Environment as having the Japan’s Best Starry Sky. SSFF & ASIA will screen a program of short films specially selected by SSFF & ASIA in this beautiful natural village.

Short Film "The way back home"
In 2022, the Japan Expo project was inaugurated to draw on the essence of cultures and tales that lie dormant in various areas of Japan and condense them into short stories. Short stories set in Iwate, Shizuoka & Fukuoka Prefectures were submitted & selected.
At the SSFF & ASIA 2022 Fall Festival held in October 2022, a panel discussion was held with the invited writers of the stories. In addition, the short story "The Two of Us, in a Town with a View of the Sea" by Kento Norikane which was inspired by the novel "Konjiki Yasha" by writer Ozaki Kōyō, a famed author whose statue is in Atami City, has been adapted into a short film written & directed by Karin Miyagi.
Beauty of Achi Village (Nagano Prefecture), Beauty of Japan : Cinematic Edition
Filmed throughout Spring, Summer and Fall seasons, the film guides the audience through the beauty of Achi Village. The beautiful and delicate guide represents our curiosity and our respect as guests to the village. Through her, we will see, touch, pray, feel, and celebrate both the natural elements and spirituality of Achi Village.
The "Cinematic" video spans 3 different seasons, but it trajects like a full day from sunrise to night. In the second part of the film, a strong and elegant dancer will perform on an ancient shrine stage. The bright colors of the day will be replaced by the bold flames and stars shining in the night while the dancer pays homage to the protective deities of Achi Village.
The film will conclude with the annual ritual of the fireworks’ cleansing, which is visually striking and is a great ending for our journey of Achi Village. Please enjoy the splendor and beauty of Achi Village.
