Both Izumo and Yamato appear in the myths depicted in the Nihon shoki (The Chronicles of Japan), the former symbolizing the world of divinity and ritual and the latter the center of the emperor’s political power. Bringing together outstanding works from Izumo and Yamato, the exhibition explores the world of ancient Japan.
