Art Festivals & Events

the 10th anniversary of the Sanriku Geopark Japan certification
the 5th anniversary of the full opening of the Michinoku Coastal Trail, pre-commemorative

A festival of culture, tradition, and food nurtured by the land of Sanriku
〜Hike MCT and Enjoy GEOPARK!
Hike the Michinoku Coastal Trail and experience the culture of Sanriku!

The diverse climate, local performing arts, and rich culinary culture of the Sanriku region have been nurtured and developed there by the geographical factors of the Sanriku region. The historical culture, traditions, and food of the Sanriku coastline, nurtured by the rich nature where people and nature coexist, is the Geopark itself.
The Michinoku Coastal Trail (MCT), which will celebrate its 5th anniversary next year after its full opening, is a long trail that allows visitors to travel through the Geopark on foot. Hiking along the MCT, you will be able to understand the relationship between the Geoparks and their values and rarity.
The MCT, which allows visitors to experience the charms of Sanriku and its attractions to the fullest, is being promoted both domestically and internationally together with the attraction of Sanriku, and by adding value focusing on the relationship between geo and climate, history, culture, and livelihood, we aim to create momentum to revitalize the region and develop the local economy.
