Kutani ware is a type of porcelain developed in Ishikawa Prefecture in the mid-seventeenth century. This style of porcelain became famous worldwide as "Japan Kutani" after it was exhibited at the 1873 Vienna World's Fair. The porcelain at CERABO KUTANI is produced using hanasaka stone, a rare, locally-sourced pottery stone. At the studio, you can try painting porcelain or create your own piece, molding it either by hand or potter's wheel.
